HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — This Sunday, a group of Jewish Americans will hold a public menorah lighting in Highland Park to call for a lasting ceasefire in Israel's war with Hamas.
The event is organized by Central Jersey members of IfNotNow, a Jewish American non-profit that is critical of Israel. IfNotNow's founding statements called for "an end U.S. support for Israel's apartheid system and demand equality, justice and a thriving future for all Palestinians and Israelis."
They will hold what they call is a "Hanukkah for Ceasefire Candle Lighting" at 5 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Welkovits Pavilion, 212 Raritan Avenue in Highland Park.

The event will go on rain or shine, said organizers. Sunday is the fourth night of Hanukkah.
The group said: "American Jews will gather to light candles for Hanukkah to bring light in this time of horror, honor the lives of the Palestinians and Israelis who have been killed and call for a lasting ceasefire, hostage exchange and a long-term political solution that will bring equality, justice and peace for all."
