Man Assaulted in Union Street Apartment
Three people entered a Union Street apartment on Friday night brandishing a handgun, police say.

A Union Street resident was assaulted on Friday night when three men broke into his apartment with a handgun.
According to a Nixle alert from Rutgers Police, just before 7 p.m. Friday, three men entered an apartment located at 40 Union St., which is a multi-unit building.
The men entered through an "unsecured door" and threatened a tenant there with a handgun and "demanded he turn over property," according to the alert.

When the victim did not immediately cooperate, the men assaulted him and fled the apartment with stolen property, according to the alert.
The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspected assailants are described in the alert as black males wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and gloves. One of the suspects may have been wearing yellow gloves and another was wearing a red bandanna, according to the alert.
