A man armed with a knife was shot by a police officer in New Brunswick Friday, according to several reports.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man armed with a knife was shot by a police officer in New Brunswick Friday, according to several reports.
At around 2 p.m., Franklin Township and New Brunswick police responded to Route 27 near Mitchell Avenue between Lufberry and Quentin Avenues for a report of an assault involving a man with a knife, New Brunswick Today reported.
Despite de-escalation attempts from police, the man lunged at the officers, 6abc reported, and one of them shot him.

It was not immediately clear whether the officer who fired the shot was from Franklin Township or New Brunswick police.
The man was listed in stable condition at RWJ University Hospital at around 6:30 p.m., per NJ.com. He is expected to survive, New Brunswick Today added.
