New Brunswick Voter Guide: Primary Election 2025

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The 2025 primary election is on Tuesday, June 10. Check out our voter guide to see who is on the ballot and where to vote.

Early voting is open now through June 8. Go to middlesexcountynj.gov/vote and clicking on “Early Voting" to get your early voting location.

This is the primary on Tuesday; the main election is in November.

Who is on the ballot?

New Brunswick is in the 17th legislative district.

Democrats running for Statehouse:

• Incumbent Joseph Danielsen is seeking re-election.
• Kevin Egan is seeking election, replacing his father, the retiring Joseph Egan.
• Loretta Rivers is challenging both those men.

Republican Primary for General Assembly (Vote for 2):

• The candidates are Susan Hucko and Patricia Badovinac.

State Senate Primary:

• Democratic: Incumbent Bob Smith is running for re-election.
• Republican: William P. Mikita Jr. is the Republican candidate.

Where Can I Vote?

There are three ways to vote in the 2025 Primary Election:

• Vote by mail
• In-person early voting locations will be open Tuesday, June 3, through Saturday, June 7, from 10 am-8 pm, and Sunday, June 8, from 10 am- 6 pm. No appointment is necessary.
• Registered voters may vote in person on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at their assigned polling location. Polling locations will be open from 6 am-8 pm.

Fill out a Mail-In Ballot Application found on the Middlesex County website. A physical signature is required.

The County Clerk's office must receive Mail-In Ballot Applications submitted by mail no later than seven days prior to Primary Election Day. For the June 2025 Primary Election, Mail-In Ballot Applications sent via mail must be received by the County Clerk’s Office by Tuesday, June 3.

How to return your Mail-In Ballot:

• Mail the ballot back. Mail-In Ballots must be postmarked on or before 8 pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
• Take it directly to the Board of Elections’ Office, 26 Kennedy Boulevard, Suite B, East Brunswick by 8 pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
• Drop the ballot in a designated Middlesex County Board of Elections drop box by 8 pm on June 10, 2025. A list of ballot boxes is found here on the County’s website. Drop boxes are maintained by the Middlesex County Board of Elections, are secure, and are monitored 24/7 by video surveillance. Ballots are collected from drop boxes on a regular basis.

Early Voting

In-person early voting locations will be open Tuesday, June 3 through Sunday, June 8 for the 2025 Primary Election. The hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am-8 pm and Sunday, 10 am 6 pm.
