New Rutgers RWJ Medical Students Don White Coats, Begin Medical School
The first class of students to attend Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School went through the annual white coat ceremony on Friday.
The Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School merger was made official earlier this summer, but old traditions have carried through.
On Friday, 134 medical students in the class of 2017 donned crisp white coats stitched with the names of both Rutgers and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the first class of students to enter the newly merged institution.
The white coat ceremony is an annual tradition at the medical school, and Friday's ceremony marked the 20th anniversary of the ceremony, said school Dean Peter Amenta.
