Northeast Corridor Trains Delayed After Truck Strikes Train Bridge

Trains on Amtrak's northeast corridor will be delayed after tractor-trailer sustains heavy damage attempting to cross under bridge on Deans Lane.

Trains traveling on the Amtrak northeast corridor have been delayed after a tractor-trailer carrying water struck a train bridge on Deans Lane.

There are concerns about the structural integrity of the bridge, and the roadway has been closed near Blackhorse Lane. 

The incident occurred at about 12:15 p.m., when the truck driver was headed down Deans Lane from Route 1 and made it about three-fourths of the way under the bridge crossing, according to police.

South Brunswick Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan said Amtrak officials are en route to inspect the damage.

Police are on scene and traffic is being diverted at Georges Road and Blackhorse Lane. Sgt. Ryan said the roadway will be closed for at least the next two hours.
