Results Of Primary Election In New Brunswick

Here are unofficial results as vote counts come in Tuesday night.

NEW BRUNSWICK NJ — Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill is the projected winner of the Democratic primary for NJ governor, and Jack Ciattarelli will be the Republican nominee. The two will face off in November in what will likely be a very heated race to be New Jersey's next governor.

These are not official results, which take several days for county clerks to certify. Here are the early returns and projected winners:

Governor (Democrats) choose one:

  • Steven Fulop (Democrats for Change)
  • Steve Sweeney (Regular Democratic Organization)
  • Mikie Sherrill: Declared winner, with 34 percent of the vote, Associated Press reports
  • Ras J. Baraka (Reimagine NJ)
  • Josh Gottheimer (Lower Taxes, Lower Costs, Commonsense Democrat)
  • Sean Spiller (Democrats Protecting Our Democracy)

Governor (Republican) choose one:

  • Justin Barbera (Enough is Enough Uncompromised)
  • Jack Ciattarelli (Endorsed by President Donald Trump): Declared winner, with 66 percent of the vote, Associated Press reports
  • Bill Spadea (Common Sense Republican)
  • Mario M. Kranjac (Make New Jersey Great Again)
  • Jon Bramnick (Middlesex County First)

State Assembly:

Democrats, choose two:

  • Incumbent Joseph Danielsen is seeking re-election
  • Kevin Egan is seeking election, replacing his father, the retiring Joseph Egan
  • Loretta Rivers

Republican, choose two:

  • Susan Hucko
  • Patricia Badovinac

State Senate, choose one:

  • Democratic: Incumbent Bob Smith is running for re-election
  • Republican: William P. Mikita Jr.
