Route 27 Custom Bakery Brings Sweet Artistry to the Area
Buki Bakes on Route 27 offers a wide variety of treats, including vegan, sugar and gluten free, to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Artistry can be found in many varying mediums, but none quite so delicious as a custom flavored cupcake.
Seeking to fill a need for custom bakeries in the South Brunswick area, Buki Bakes brings a wide variety of tasty options to the Route 27 corridor.
Buki Bakes, which opened in late 2012, not only designs custom cakes for any occasion, the bakery offers a wide variety of vegan, gluten free and diabetic treats. However, the bakery began out of a simple need for an inexpensive birthday cake.
"The owner was looking for a cake for her husband's birthday, but she thought the prices were all outrageous," said Manager Saudia Zamor. "So she thought, I could just do this on my own and started with this first location (on Route 27). So we bring custom goods made with all natural products. We do regular, vegan, gluten free, and sugar free. But we specialize in custom cakes."
While custom cakes may be the specialty, the bakery's cake pops and cupcakes are not far behind. Options like the salted caramel cupcake, along with a cookies and cream cupcake, offer mouth watering treats for any sweet tooth.
"People have to try out our red velvet cookies and cupcakes, or our chocolate cupcakes," Zamor said. "Those are the real door busters."
With a wide array of cookies, tarts, ice cream shots and pops, brownies, rum cakes, mini cakes and more, Buki Bakes prides itself on quality products from natural ingredients.

"What sets us apart is that everything is made from scratch," Zamor said. "We use all natural products and European recipes. Plus, price wise we're one of the cheaper custom bakeries in the area. And of course the taste. We have people who come in solely to pick up our lemon or chocolate cupcakes."
As a new bakery, Buki Bakes has been able to thrive on word of mouth and foot traffic at its location near the CVS and TD Bank on Route 27. But, Zamor noted, all it takes is one taste to make a loyal customer.

"People love our cupcakes, but our cake designs are amazing too. We do hand decorating, creating everything from start to finish," she said. "We also cater to quite a few people with specific food allergies. We had one woman who was looking for a cake for her child with peanut allergies, which we made for her. She was just happy she got to take a break from baking. That's the kind of stuff we do everyday, but it means so much to our customers."
