A Rutgers University student was sprayed in the face with liquid and robbed at gunpoint while walking on Douglass Campus this past weekend.
According to a Nixle alert from the Rutgers University Police Department, the male student was near Jameson Residence Hall on Douglass Campus between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Friday, when he was approached by three unfamiliar men.
One of the three allegedly sprayed the student in the face with an "unknown liquid," causing temporarily blindness, while another in the group showed a handgun and demanded that the victim hand over his property, according to the alert.
The three fled the scene in a "dark colored vehicle." One is described as being a dark-skinned, heavy-set black male with small dreadlocks, according to the alert.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, treated and released, according to the alert.
Anyone with information on the robbery, or who may have been in the area at the time is asked to call New Brunswick police at (732) 745-5200 or Rutgers police at (732) 932-7211.
