Teen Summit, Obamacare House Party This Weekend in New Brunswick

What's happening in New Brunswick this weekend?

Do you have plans for the weekend in New Brunswick? Here's some suggestions for what's going on around town:

1. Organizing for Action will hold an "Obamacare"-themed house party in celebration of President Barack Obama's 52nd birthday at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

Activists with the organization will discuss the Affordable Care Act with guests. The event is free and open to the public, and will be hosted at the home of Deanna Jancsek, 1645 Kearny Drive, North Brunswick. For more information on Organizing for Action, visit barackobama.com.

2. From noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, Amy Schindler from Virago will give a free performance in Kilmer Square Park, according to New Brunswick City Market. Grab your lunch and head to the park to enjoy the performance in an outdoor shaded spot.

3. Fresh Grocer will hold a job fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, according to the City of New Brunswick Facebook Page. Bi-lingual candidates are specifically being sought, according to the post.

4. Court Tavern will host Monterey, Chasing Bear and Atikas Arra at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

5. Did you miss out on Restaurant Week? New Brunswick City Market has announced that 14 restaurants in New Brunswick have extended their New Brunswick Restaurant Week promotions through Saturday, Aug. 3.

6. A Teen Summit will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 771 Somerset St. in Somerset. Discussions center around the state of race Trayvon Martin, and will also include dance, vocal and spoken word performances.
