White Castle Eyed for Route 18

In the mood for a slider? Well, if Belmont Realty Associates has its way, you won’t have to look far.

The group is seeking preliminary site plan approval to build a 2,580-square-foot White Castle with a drive through  on a 18.443-acre parcel of “underutilized parking lot” just north of and south of .

According to plans on file at the township Planning Department, the restaurant would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employ six to eight people per shift, with about three shifts per 24 hours.

In the area right now are about 963 parking spaces. The plans call for removing 76 and installing another 43 for 891 parking spaces.

The application will be before the East Brunswick Planning Board on July 25.
