Thirty-seven members of Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence and Advent Lutheran Church in Warren spent the week of July 3 helping the people of Cosby, an impoverished town in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee.
The thirty-seven consisted of fourteen adults, five college and eighteen high school students. 2011 is the fourteenth consecutive year that Faith Lutheran has visited Cosby.
The effort of Faith and Advent Lutheran consisted of two initiatives. One was a camp for forty children, ages three through fifteen, which provided Christian education, music, arts and crafts as well as recreation. Additionally, each day the children were given a nutritious lunch and snacks.
