Berkeley Heights Volunteer Team Cleans Up Debris In River Park

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Local volunteers cleaned up trash, scrap metal, tires, and other debris from the Berkeley Heights part of Union County’s Passaic River Park, last weekend.

The team worked on a section of the park between Station Street and Summit Avenue in Berkeley Heights.

Joining local residents in the clean-up, were town officials including the mayor Angie Devanney.

“They went above and beyond to clear a trail for everyone to enjoy, and to help build support for preserving natural habitats in our community,” said Union County Board of Commissioners Chairman Alexander Mirabella.

The event was put together by the Berkley Heights Environmental Commission. Union County’s Adopt-a-Park program has also worked with the Environmental Commissions in both Berkeley Heights and Summit to improve and maintain trails in the park.
