New Providence Police Blotter: May 6 - May 11

Police officers recently charged four juveniles with possession and consumption of underage drinking, recovered a stolen vehicle, and returned an intoxicated juvenile to his parents being found urinating in public.

5-6-2011 – Patrols charged Michael Tredici, 18, of Colonia for underage possession and consumption of alcohol.  Four juveniles were also placed into custody and were charged for underage possession and consumption of alcohol.  The charges arise from a citizen complaint of the group causing a disturbance at an organized function on Springfield Avenue.  All involved were released to their parents with pending court dates.

5-8-2011 – Patrols recovered an unoccupied, stolen motor vehicle, at a Springfield Avenue business that had been reported stolen out of Union City in October of 2009. 

5-9-2011 – Sergeant Justine Kennedy charged Jacinta Meza, 52, of Neshanic Station for operating a motor vehicle while her driver’s license was suspended.  Ms. Meza was stopped on Mountain Avenue for equipment violations.  She was released with a pending court date.

5-11-2011 – Sergeant Frank Gaffney observed a male juvenile urinating on a sidewalk in front of a Springfield Avenue business at 12:45 a.m.  As patrols approached, the juvenile began to flee from officers.  The juvenile was intoxicated and was taken into custody. The juvenile was released to his parents with charges being filed with a pending court date.

5-11-2011 – Corporal Dennis Carovillano arrested Ian Lanza, 22, of New Providence for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The charges stem from Mr. Lanza being stopped for equipment violations on Maple Street.  Mr. Lanza was also issued several motor vehicle summonses for the violations.  He was released with a pending court date.
