No Surprises In New Providence Borough Council Primary 2021

There were only two Republican candidates, and no one was running for the Democratic ballot.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Two Republican incumbents, Matthew Cumiskey and Peter DeSarno, are won their party's nomination in the primary race for Borough Council, according to unofficial results.

There are no surprises as these were the only two in the run. No one ran for the Democratic ballot.

DeSarno got 542 votes and Cumiskey got 534. There were 68 Democratic write-in ballots.

General Assembly (Democrat)

  • Elizabeth A. Graner: 6,809
  • Anjali Mehrotra: 6,633

State Senate (Republican)

  • John Bramnick: 5,559

State Senate (Democrat)

  • Joseph Signorello III: 6,814

41,554 ballots were cast in Somerset County, representing a voter turnout of 11.74 percent.
