Resident Charged With Allegedly Attacking Man At Party

Upon arrival at scene, police found individual bleeding heavily from head and neck after he was allegedly attacked by man with broken beer bottle.

A man was allegedly attacked by a local resident with a broken beer bottle at a party in New Providence on Saturday night.

According to a release from the New Providence Police Department, Romeo Escalon, 29, of New Providence was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. 

The charges stem from Corporal Dennis Carovillano responding to a Livingston Avenue address on a report of an injured person. Upon arriving, Corporal Carovillano observed an individual bleeding profusely with deep lacerations to his head and neck.

The victim advised officers that he was attacked by Romeo Escalon with a broken beer bottle during a party at a Marion Avenue address. The victim was taken to Overlook Hospital. 

Romeo Escalon was arrested at his address on Marion Avenue.  He was transported to the Union County Jail and is being held on $25,000 bail.
