Monday

  • The Zoning Board is meeting tonight at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
  • The New Providence United Methodist Church is hosting its weekly Re-Employment Seminar at 7:30 p.m. The topic this week is "Mechanics of the Job Search," where instructor Lloyd L. Feinstein will discuss the basics of managing a pro-active job search. Remember to bring a pencil and a pad.
  • The girls' varsity basketball team will host No. 7 University High School today in the sectional final of the state tournament. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

Tuesday

  • The Planning Board is meeting at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
  • The New Providence Library will screen the movie "Life As We Know It" at 2 p.m. and "Good Bye, Lenin!" at 6:30 p.m. Both movies can be viewed in the Conti Family Meeting Room.
  • Woman Art 2011 by the Summit College Club is on display each day (except for Sundays) at the New Providence Memorial Library. Artwork can be viewed today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday

  • The NPHS cast of Bye Bye Birdie, which will be performed March 11-13, will visit the New Providence Senior Citizens Center Club meeting at 11 a.m. and perform selections from the musical.
  • A Lecture Series by the Summit Jewish Community Center will begin this morning at the New Providence Memorial Library. A course covering political events taking place in the Middle East and American foreign policy will begin at 9:15 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., a speaker will discuss history of the conservative movement in Judaism.   • The Board of Education is hosting the second and final Superintendent's Forum at 7 p.m. in the high school/middle school media center. At this informal forum, members of the community can discuss the proposed 2011/2012 school budget with Dr. David Miceli, Superintendent of Schools, and other members of the Board.

Thursday

  • The Municipal Court will convene at 3 p.m. in the Municipal Center.
  • Our Lady of Peace Church is hosting a "Life is a Highway" Tricky Tray Dinner on March 25 at 6 p.m. at L'Affaire in Mountainside, NJ. Tickets are now on sale for $48 per person. Contact Jan Manger at 908-665-2696 for more information.
  • The Knights of Columbus Council 783 is hosting the annual St. Patrick's Day party at the William Paca Club, beginning at 7 p.m. The party will feature Corned Beef Sandwiches, German Potato Salad, Irish Beer and Wine, and Irish Step Dancers.   • The wait is officially over as student members of Bye Bye Birdie take the stage at New Providence High School. The show opens tonight at 7:30 p.m. Other show times include March 12 at 7:30 p.m. and March 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased from a student, at the high school main office or by emailing NPHSmusical@yahoo.com. Group discounts are also available.

Saturday

  • Bye Bye Birdie will be performed by students at New Providence High School. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. The next and final show will take place on March 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased from a student, at the high school main office or by emailing NPHSmusical@yahoo.com. Group discounts are also available.
  • The New Providence Historical Society is hosting their 5th Annual Antiques and Collectibles Appraisals Show from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the New Providence Memorial Library. Seating will begin at 9:30 a.m. Alan Snyder, an Antiques Expert with more than 29 years of experience, will offer his comments on items provided by the audience. There is a two item limit per person. Items will include small furniture, photographs, memorabilia, sports collectibles, silver, jewelry and paintings. A donation is requested, which will be used toward the historical society's memberships dues.
  • The New Providence High School Athletic Booster Club is hosting a Comedy Night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the William Paca Club, feauting a trio of comedians: Joe Conte, Kim Jonny and Rich Carruci. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. There will be unlimited beer, wine, soda and hor d'oevres. Checks can be made payable to "NPHS Athletic Booster Club" and sent to Leslie Sidoli at 176 Runneymeade Parkway in New Providence. Tickets can only be purchased in advance until March 10. Only individuals 21 years or older will be admitted.

Sunday

  • The final curtain for Bye Bye Birdie will go up at 3 p.m. today at New Providence High School. Tickets are $12 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students.
