Official Warn Residents About Holiday Solicitors

The Princeton Township Police Department alerts the community that solicitors must have a Township permit to engage in these activities.

In any instance of an individual going door-to-door within the Township, the following is strongly recommended.

• Do not allow the individual or individuals into your home.
• Ask for a picture identification of the person(s) with their name and company name clearly visible.
• Ask to see a copy of the individual’s solicitor’s permit.
• If you are not interested in speaking with the person or in their product, say so in no uncertain terms. Ask them to leave your property immediately if you wish them to do so.
• Call the police if the person does not comply with your requests. Get a physical description of the person, including height, weight and clothing, to give to the police when you call.
• Never get caught up in a confrontation with a solicitor.
