Assault By Automobile, Reckless Driving, Shoplifting: Princeton Police Blotter

The Princeton Police blotter dated Oct. 14 had the following reports:

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:

PRINCETON, NJ - On Oct. 8, at 2:08 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for failure to keep right, the driver, a Princeton resident, was found to be driving while intoxicated. The 35-year-old was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed. After the completion of his arrest processing, the man was subsequently released to a sober adult. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses related to the incident, including driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane of travel, and improper left turn.

On Oct. 9, at 10:28 a.m., patrols responded to a commercial business on North Harrison Street regarding a shoplifting that occurred on Oct. 05. Management of the business described the suspect as a black male, approximately 50–60-year-old, with some facial hair, wearing a blue cap, a black zip-up sweatshirt, a black t-shirt, a chain around his neck, and blue jeans. They further said that the suspect walked into the store and shoplifted a variety of items with a total value of $789.49. The suspect then left the store with the unpaid merchandise.
On Oct. 11, patrols again responded to the business for a shoplifting incident in progress. On arrival, contact was made with the store management and the involved suspect, later identified as a 63-year-old Trenton resident. Further investigation revealed the man to be the suspect who had shoplifted at the business on Oct. 05, as well as the suspect from a previous shoplifting incident on Aug. 19, in which a value of $385.38 of merchandise was taken. The man was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters to be processed. He was later charged with two counts of shoplifting and was later released from custody.

On Oct. 13, at 10:23 p.m., patrols responded to Stockton Street on a reported two-car motor vehicle crash. Investigation of the crash determined that the driver, A Princeton resident, was found to be Driving While Intoxicated. The 33-year-old was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters for processing. A passenger in the other vehicle that was struck appeared to suffer minor injuries and was later taken to a local hospital. At headquarters, the man was processed accordingly and was charged with assault by automobile, as well as numerous traffic summonses, including driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe vehicle, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of an MVA, and failure to report an MVA.
