Local Fundraiser Benefits Celiac Disease Foundation Mar. 7

Local family holds their fourth annual celiac disease fundraiser on March 7 to raise funds for the Celiac Disease Foundation.

Come out on Saturday, March 7, 2015 to support one woman’s mission to help raise awareness of celiac disease. After Adrienne Bender’s son was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2012, the family had to put him on a strict gluten-free diet. While Adrienne’s son is on a path to healing, this disease impacts millions across the U.S.

Join the Bender family on March 7 for the fourth annual fundraiser to benefit the Celiac Disease Foundation. All community members are welcome to lunch at Eno Terra in Kingston at 12:00 p.m. Eno Terra is graciously donating proceeds to the Celiac Disease Foundation and there will also be wonderful silent auction items.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. No child or adult should suffer from a debilitating disease with lasting health repercussions when diagnostic tools and treatment are readily available. Of the 3 million Americans with celiac disease, only 1 in 6 are diagnosed. For these fortunate few, their average time to diagnosis is 10 years.
