Memories of Princeton Places
The closing of the Carousel last month gives long-time Princetonians a chance to reminisce and think about their long-gone favorite places.

Princeton native Matthew Hersh's Facebook page today mourned the passing of the Carousel Luncheonette, which happened last month. And it raised a question: What old-time Princeton businesses and places do you miss and what are your memories?
For me, it is Victor's Pizza, the old Buxton's on Nassau Street--and the Carousel.

Hersh's wall post, which triggered numerous responses, demonstrated that the Carousel, to its end, was a popular breakfast location--even in its most recent location.
"Very sad," Hersh wrote. "Best pancakes in Princeton."

And he added, as a reminder, that "Carousel had been at the current Tiger Noodles location (next to Grape and Grain), and then it moved to where Vibes used to be. Thing is, they never changed the decor -- they still had the old slatted walls to hold CD racks, the record store carpet, etc. etc."
I remember the Carousel at the corner of Walnut and Nassau Street, a tiny lunch-counter place where the waitresses remembered my breakfast order, even if I might not stop by for six months or more.
Once it moved, it fell off my radar, and not only mine.
"I really loved that place when it was at the old location," Carrie Robb commented. "I never went there after they moved to where the old Vibes was. I really don't know why!! I think they should have never moved."
So, what were your favorite Princeton places? Was it the old Playhouse on Hulfish or maybe Pyramid Books or Harry's Luncheonette?
