Motor Vehicle Theft, Unlawful Use Of Credit Cards: Princeton Police Blotter

The Princeton Police blotter dated Aug. 12 had the following reports:

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:

On Aug. 5, at 4:30 p.m., a man reported that while walking on Riverside Drive near Balsam Lane, he was approached by a gray vehicle with an unknown Georgia license plate. He stated that he spoke with the passenger, described as a heavyset Indian woman with black hair, who handed him a bag of costume jewelry. The woman then placed one of the costume chains around his neck and asked for a kiss before leaving the area. The victim later discovered that two gold chains he had been wearing, valued at $1,000 and $600 respectively, were stolen during the encounter. The total value of the theft is $1,600.

On Aug. 6, at 6:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to a park on Alexander Street to conduct a welfare check on a female. On arrival, they located the female, who was accompanied by her significant other, Derek Delorenzo, in a tent in the woods. A subsequent warrant check revealed that Delorenzo was wanted by the Neptune Township Police Department. He was taken into custody, and a search incident to arrest yielded an orange plastic vial containing less than 0.5 ounces of a white powdery substance suspected to be heroin. Delorenzo was transported to headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of CDS-Heroin. He was then transferred to the custody of the Neptune Township Police Department.

On Aug. 7, at 11:53 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for obstruction of windshield for vision, the driver and sole occupant, a 48-year-old Princeton resident, was determined to be driving while intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, careless driving, and obstruction of windshield for vision. The man was later released to a sober adult.

On Aug. 7, at 12:32 a.m., patrols responded to the area of North Harrison Street and Franklin Avenue for a reported verbal dispute. On further investigation, it was determined that the accused, a 22-year-old Camden resident, had an active warrant out of Camden City Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000 full bail, and an active warrant out of Trenton Municipal Court in the amount of $250.00 full bail. She was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was subsequently released on her own recognizance with new court dates issued.

On Aug. 8, at 4:47 p.m., the victim reported that on Aug. 05, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., an unknown individual(s), believed to be an employee or employees of a moving company, stole her credit card and $100 in cash from her purse. The stolen credit card was subsequently used to make three unauthorized purchases at a Wawa in North Plainfield, NJ. The victim sustained a total monetary loss of approximately $188.74. There are no suspects at this time.

On Aug. 9, at 2:34 p.m., the woman reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 08 and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 09. She stated that the vehicle had been parked in the driveway of her residence on Fisher Avenue with the doors left unlocked. Although no items were reported stolen, the woman said that several belongings had been moved from their original locations inside the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

On Aug. 10, at 7:159 p.m., a resident reported that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway between 11:20 p.m., on Aug. 08 and 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 09. The incident occurred during the same time frame as the previously reported vehicle burglary on Fisher Avenue (Ref. 25-23713). The stolen vehicle is valued at approximately $66,000. There are no suspects at this time.
