Princeton 2025 Election Guide: Candidates, Deadlines, How To Vote

PRINCETON, NJ — A heated contest for governor between Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli is sure to bring many voters to the polls on Nov. 4. But there will be plenty of other choices for local voters to make in the 2025 general election – including a hotly contested school board race.

The Mercer County Clerk’s Office has released sample ballots for Edison and Metuchen, which can be found here.

NJ GOVERNOR – Candidates for New Jersey governor include Jack Ciattarelli (Republican), Mikie Sherrill (Democrat), Vic Kaplan (Libertarian Party) and Joanne Kuniansky (Socialist Workers Party). The term lasts for four years.

NJ ASSEMBLY, 16th DISTRICT (vote for two) – Candidates for New Jersey Assembly in the 16th district include Roy Freiman (Democrat), Michelle Drulis (Democrat), Scott Sipos (Republican) and Catherine Payne (Republican). Terms last for two years.

MERCER COUNTY CLERK – Local voters will also get to cast a ballot in the race for Mercer County Clerk. The candidates are Paula Sollami Covello (Democrat) and Shaolin Brown (Republican). The term lasts for five years.

PRINCETON COUNCIL — Two candidates are running unopposed for council - Democrats Mia Sacks and Michelle Pirone Lambros.

PRINCETON SCHOOL BOARD: Three candidates are seeking to fill three spots on the Princeton Board of Education this November. The candidates are Erica Snyder, Dafna Kendal and Susan Kanter.

HOW TO VOTE

There are three ways to vote in the 2025 general election in New Jersey. Here’s what options are available for Mercer County residents, according to the clerk’s office:

Vote By Mail – Registered voters can request a mail-in ballot by completing an application for "Vote by Mail." Applications submitted by mail must reach the County Clerk's Office at least seven days before Election Day. Voters may also apply in person or through an authorized messenger.

Early Voting – In-person early voting will be open Saturday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 2, for the 2025 General Election. Hours will be Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Election Day – In-person voting is available to all registered voters in Mercer County. Voters may vote in person at their assigned polling place on General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. All polling locations can be found on the County website or on your sample ballot, which will be mailed two weeks prior to the General Election. Polling locations will be open from 6 am to 8 pm on General Election Day.
