PRINCETON, NJ – Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution accepting donations to conduct a kiosk design competition.

According to the resolution, the donations would fund a $10,000 prize for the winning kiosk design, which might be constructed at the current Nassau Street and Vandeventer Avenue location.

The American Institute of Architects of New Jersey, a nonprofit organization, will "administer/oversee/hold a competition for the design of the new kiosk."

The concept for the design competition emerged through architect Joshua Zinder. Councilman David Cohen said Zinder has been working with him and Deputy Administrator Deanna Stockton to put together the competition.

“Folks in the public may remember we've talked at some length about what this kiosk should be, and Josh was watching the recording of one of our meetings, reached out and said, ‘sounds like you guys really could use a design competition,’ and I think it's a great idea,” Cohen said.

“If anybody wants to donate more, beyond the company that's already stepped up to donate the base amount for the awards, we would be very happy to accept and to recognize you with a plaque on the final result.”

Cohen did not identify the business making the initial $10,000 contribution, saying he was going to hold off on that announcement until “everything is buttoned up.”
