Princeton Schools Launch Major Technology Fundraiser
The $4 million campaign aims to integrate technology into all classrooms, from prekindergarten through 12th grade.

has launched a $4 million technology fundraiser called “Power Up PRS!.”
Money raised will be used to integrate technology into grade and every subject in grades prekindergarten through 12th, according to district Superintendent Judy Wilson.
The district has been planning this campaign for months, since voters in April approved an $80.28 million budget 2011-12, which raised taxes for Princeton Borough and Township residents, but did nothing to address classroom technology funding or capital improvements beyond those critical for health and safety.

The district hopes parents, alumni and corporations will now step forward to help embed technology into the classroom, be it videoconferencing, iPods to learn second or tools to create electronic writing portfolios.
“Technology is not an event, it’s not a down the hall hope it works when we get there,” Wilson said. “We are teaching children who need to solve the challenges of our nation and our economy, and we know that they need to be well-prepared to step into world that’s heavily integrated with technology.”

“So we can’t ignore the need and we can’t ignore the cause,” she said.
It’s a tough economy in which to launch a fundraiser, but the district hopes that every parent will contribute at whatever level they are able, be it a donation, spreading the word, sponsoring a local event or helping to find corporate gifts.
The campaign is led by Anne Burns, Dan Haughton and Stacy Pibl.
