Snow? Seriously?

The National Weather Service is predicting light snowfall for the area this weekend.

We've all barely turned on the heat at home and now it's going to snow? Really?

But if the latest forecast for Princeton holds true, we will get a winter preview this weekend as snow looks to be headed to the area. A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service predicts rain changing into heavy wet snow. The advisory is in effect from noon Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. 

Saturday morning the forecast calls for rain, then mixing with snow midday and turning to snow in the afternoon.

A mix of rain and snow could arrive after 5 p.m. Saturday with a high temperature near 43 degrees and wind between 11 and 18 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. 

Saturday night, the NWS predicts rain and snow, becoming all snow after midnight with a low around 30 degrees and wind between 17 and 24 mph. Accumulations of one to two inches is possible, with the largest accumulation on non-paved surfaces, according to the NWS.

The heavy snow could lead to downed tree limbs and power outages. Visability could be reduced to under a mile at times, so motorists are urged to use caution.

Sunday the temperature will rise to a high near 47 degrees.
