Swearing-In & A Surprise Announcement At Princeton’s Reorganization Meeting
Current Council President Mia Sacks was reelected to the position by a unanimous vote.

PRINCETON, NJ — Two reelected members of Council took their oath of office during Princeton’s reorganization meeting held on Wednesday.
Councilman David Cohen was sworn-in by Judge Philip Carchman and attorney Susan Roy administered the oath of office to Councilwoman Leticia Fraga.
But the biggest surprise of the evening came when Councilwoman Eve Niedergang announced she will be not be seeking reelection in November this year.

“Many of you in the room know this already because I’ve had one-on-one conversations with you. But despite the love I share for my colleagues and the staff, I have decided not seek reelection this year,” the two-term Councilwoman said.
“It’s been an honor and a privilege really to serve as a member of council. And I hope that my final year will be as challenging and productive as the last five have been.”

Niedergang said it was hard to leave a job one found rewarding, but she was “at peace with the decision.”
“I thank all of you in the room and out in the community for your contributions, your support and your passion for our shared community. I look forward to working together this year to achieve many of our mutual goals,” Niedergang said. During the meeting, current Council President Mia Sacks was reelected to the position by a unanimous vote.
Mayor Mark Freda and Councilmembers delivered their remarks, which included setting their goals for the new year.
