The Week Ahead: Turkey Trot, Palmer Square Tree Lighting

Looking for things to do this holiday week? It's Thanksgiving, the start of Chanukah and the lights will go on in Palmer Square this weekend.

Monday

Princeton University Art Museum presents a talk by Mexican photographer Pablo Ortiz Monasterio. This is the third event in Photography in Latin America, a lecture series co-organized by Professors Eduardo Cadava and Gabriela Nouzeilles in conjunction with the exhibition The Itinerant Languages of Photography. Princeton University, McCormick Hall 106, Noon.

Monday Morning Flowers invites you to create a centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table just in time for the holiday. Registration requested, 6 p.m. 

Wednesday

Chanukah begins at sunset

Festival of Trees at Morven Museum. See holiday trees decorated by area business, garden clubs, and organizations. $6. First day. On view Wednesdays to Sundays through Sunday, Jan. 5., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

American Repertory Ballet brings the magic, beauty and fantasy of The Nutcracker to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, new sets, thrilling choreography, and a cast of more than 100 performers.  McCarter Theatre, 7 p.m. 

Thursday

Happy Thanksgiving! 

Mercer County Turkey Trot, 5K and One-Mile Walk to benefit for Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Jewish Family and Children's Service's Kosher Food Pantry, and Beth El Synagogue in East Windsor. Bring a non-perishable food item for TASK. Mercer County Park, Register, 8 a.m. 

Sixth Annual Trinity Turkey Trot 5K Race. A family friendly run/walk race through Princeton. All proceeds benefit local charities. Bring a canned good to donate. 8:30 a.m. 
A Thanksgiving Day nature walk at Mapleton Preserve. Join Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands President Karen Linder for her popular Thanksgiving Day morning exploration. Pre-registration requested10 a.m. 

Friday

Joint Effort Basketball Player Development Program and Joint Effort Princeton Safe Streets will be holding Thanksgiving Player Development Basketball Skills Sessions for elementary and middle school boys and girls at the Princeton Day School on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9-11 a.m. each day. Each session will be geared toward specific skill development [ex. ball handling, shooting, defense/offense, footwork, conditioning etc.].
