Apartment Development Hearing Pushed to July

Developer is seeking a variance in order to build a 196-unit luxury apartment complex near the train station.

A continuing hearing on a proposed luxury apartment complex in front of the Ramsey Zoning Board of Adjustment has been pushed back another month, borough officials said Wednesday evening.

The project, a 196-unit complex proposed by Russo Development to be built on the land currently occupied by Ramsey Lumber, is seeking a zoning variance from the board. At past meetings, the developer has presented witnesses testifying about different aspects of the proposal.

Throughout the hearing process, which has been ongoing since the proposal was submitted late last year, the development has faced a scheduling issue at the BOA. With other matters scheduled at the meetings as well, the board has run out of time at previous meetings, and was not able to hear Russo’s testimony. Last month, the board held a special meeting for this testimony.

The hearing was supposed to be carried to a meeting this Wednesday, but Board Chairman Howard Cantor said Wednesday evening Russo requested to be removed from the meeting’s full agenda, and moved to the next meeting, happening July 17.

That meeting is also a regular meeting of the Board of Adjustment, beginning at 8 p.m. at hall.
