Board of Ed to Make Official Statement on Apartment Complex Proposal
Developers are scheduled to make a presentation to borough officials on the specifics of the plan later this month.

The Ramsey Board of Education is expected to make an official statement on a development proposed near Route 17 in Ramsey, but officials say the exact content of the statement has yet to be decided.
At a special board of education meeting last month, members said they were not yet ready to approve an official statement on the complex.
However, the board said it will have one approved and submitted to the town in time for the next scheduled hearing on the proposed apartment complex, set for August 22.

A subcommittee of board members has been attending every Board of Adjustment hearing thus far on the development. Russo Developers originally proposed the development last year, and has since updated its design to a three-building, 196-unit apartment complex across from the Route 17 train station.
Residents have questioned the impact the buildings would have on the school district since the project was proposed.

Russo experts testified at a hearing in June that the anticipated number of kids living in the buildings would cost the district about $151,000 per year, but bring in school taxes of about $520,000 per year.
