Car Stolen from Ramsey Driveway

The theft is similar to others happening throughout the northern part of the county, police said.

A car stolen from the driveway of a Ramsey home last week may be related to a string of car thefts throughout the northern half of the county, Ramsey Police said Wednesday afternoon.

A 2010 Audi was taken from a driveway outside a Morton Drive home “in the middle of the night,” last Monday, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said Wednesday.

The car was left unlocked, and a key fob was left in the center console of the car, Gurney said.

The theft is in line with “other high end vehicles [stolen in a similar manner] all across the northern part of the county,” Gurney said.

Police said the theft is only one of two similar incidents in Ramsey over the past year.

Thieves may be using a device that can identify from outside the car which cars have fobs inside them, Gurney said.

“It’s very important that people lock their cars, and do not leave the fobs, or anything of value like a cell phone or an iPad inside,” he said. “If they can put the cars in the garage, even better.”
