Ramsey’s Inaugural iPad Class Graduates 8th Grade

Shout out your graduate!

By Patch Editor Jessica Mazzola.

The Ramsey school year is officially over for all students, as 8th graders in the district finished out the year with a moving up ceremony Thursday night at Smith School.

The ceremony was Standing Room Only as parents and friends watched the class receive honors and acknowledgements about the work they’ve done over the past three years.

When addressing the class, Principal Stacie Poelstra spoke of her decision to take on the role of principal at the beginning of this school year. When people ask why she wanted to do it, she says, “The kids are great, and you are. Thank you for living up to your potential,” she told the grads Thursday night.

This RHS Class of 2017 in an historic one in Ramsey. The class was the first to go through the iPad initiative, which was introduced at the beginning of the school year, and handed out iPads to every student in the grade. Next year’s 8th graders will follow in their footsteps, and this class will be the first to take their iPads to high school.
