The Young Actor’s Studio of Ramsey’s Summer Sensations enrichment program rocked and rolled Thursday as they celebrated the third and final week of the camp’s season.

The Young Actor’s Studio has been around for three years and is a specialized program within Summer Sensations, a 15-year-old program run by the Ramsey Community School focused on providing students from kindergarten to 5th grade an opportunity to delve further into education and the arts over their summer breaks.

“If kids aren’t into sports, this is for them,” Camp Coordinator Kelly Braunius said of the program.

The nearly 200 campers who attend the program each session have the opportunity to participate in 18 different seminars with topics ranging from reading to sculpting.

The seminars are instructed by teachers from all over the county.

“I can’t say enough about our counselors and teachers,” Braunius said of the camp’s staff who make the camp both “fun and educational.”

The Young Actor’s Studio is comprised of 35 students who are selected on a first come, first served basis and attend the camp for all three, one week sessions.

Braunius described the Young Actor’s Studio “a big commitment” for its participants who often skip out on recess, snack and heading home right after camp to practice their routines.

This year’s performance was themed “Rock ‘n’ Roll Forever” and paid tribute to music legends such as the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley and the Beatles, to name a few. The actors proved to be triple threats as they sang, danced and acted their way through rock ‘n’ roll’s history.
