RPD Lieutenant to Replace Outgoing Captain

Captain injured during Hurricane Sandy will retire this fall, officials say.

Ramsey’s Police Department is going to replace its captain, who is expected to retire this fall.

The borough council announced at a recent meeting that current Lieutenant David Stitz will become a captain in the RPD this Fall. Stitz will replace Captain Ray Bailey, who borough officials say will retire this November.

Bailey was injured when a tree fell on him during Hurricane Sandy, and has been recovering on leave ever since.

According to a NorthJersey.com report, Stitz, who has been on the RPD for 19 years, will be sworn in during a public ceremony next month.

Stitz might be one of several promotions in the police department this fall, as two more retirements are expected later this year, the report said.
