Transformer Sparks Fire Along Route 17

Emergency responders from the borough and workers from Orange & Rockland responded to a transformer fire along Route 17 in Ramsey Saturday afternoon, fire officials confirmed.

According to officials, a transformer in front of Dyke’s Lumber on Route 17 South burst into flames after noon Saturday.

The Ramsey Fire Department put out fires at the base of the pole and small fires that spread to the lawn in front of the store, and O&R responded to the transformer, officials said.

Traffic was briefly diverted along the highway, and O&R was not reporting any power outages in the area Saturday afternoon.
