A Peaceful and Silent Stand for Trayvon Martin [Video]
Hundreds gather in Red Bank to call for justice for Florida teen Trayvon Martin and to protest racial stereotyping.
The message was one of solidarity, of remembrance, of justice and resolve.
On Monday evening, hundreds of hoodie-clad residents of all ages gathered in a small park on the corner of Shrewsbury Avenue and Drs. James Parker Boulevard Monday evening to stand in silence and peace for Trayvon Martin, a Florida teen gunned down by an overzealous neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.
The group stood on the sidewalk facing the street, holding up signs calling for justice as cars rolled by. The event was organized by Team IMPACT and was designed to raise awareness not only about Martin's death, but the national issue of stereotyping young African American men.
