Scissors for Sandy to Provide Storm Relief

Scissors for Sandy, a nationwide cut-a-thon to provide relief to Sandy victims, will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the ballroom of the Berkeley Hotel, 1401 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park.

Talented and experienced stylists will unite to offer haircuts for a minimum $40 donation and collect much needed supplies.  Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ScissorsforSandy.EventBrite.com. Donations also will be accepted from those who cannot attend but would like to help.

All proceeds will benefit Hometown Heroes Restore the Shore, an organization that directly supports the people and communities affected by Hurricane Sandy, as well as the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation, a relief fund buying food, water and needed supplies for Staten Island residents and other communities hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.

The fundraiser was created by Christine Zilinski, owner of Salon Concrete in Red Bank, with support from Procter & Gamble, Davines, Takara Belmont and DePasquale Salon Systems.

“The aftermath of Sandy has been a surreal experience.  Many of our longtime friends and clients have lost their homes, but one thing is for sure, they have not lost their spirit,” says Christine Zilinski.

“I have volunteered in some of the hardest hit communities and we are working together to clean and eventually rebuild our community.  This disaster will always be a part of us. I created Scissors for Sandy to help ease the burden of those who are suffering the most.”
