Cop-Escorted Racers Were Coming to Red Bank

A pair of New Jersey State Troopers have been suspended without pay after reports indicate he escorted a group of high-powered race cars down the Garden State Parkway on their way to Red Bank, the Star Ledger is reporting.

According to the Ledger, the Attorney General's Office announced the suspension of Sgt. 1st Class Nadir Nassry and Trooper Joseph Ventrella following the 2010 incident.

Video posted by the Ledger and obtained via YouTube shows a line of expensive race cars ranging from Ferraris to Porches speeding along the Garden State Parkway at reported speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. Leading the group of cars, weaving in and out of the Parkway's left most lanes, is a State Police cruiser.

According to the description of the video the cars were headed to a Hamilton Jewelers-sponsored car show held in Red Bank in 2010. The original video as well as a video taken later that day of the car show were removed Monday morning.

The incident received recent attention and investigation after reports of high-speed escorts of sports cars to Atlantic City were reported in March.
