As a result of the fire, two families were displaced - the site of the fire and the unit above - and have been put in contact with Red Cross to assist with housing.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be combustible contents in a closet that had contact with a nearby halogen light that was on.
None of the residents was home during the fire so there were no injuries to residents or firefighters, Frazee said.
However, he said two pets perished in the fire, which he believed were guinea pigs, but he had not confirmed that.
According to a Red Bank Fire Department social media post all Red Bank Fire Department units responded, along with mutual departments from Little Silver Fire Department, Northside (Tinton Falls) and RIT Team of River Plaza Fire (Middletown).
