Red Bank Asks Residents To Move Yard Debris As Storms Roll In
Red Bank Borough is asking residents to move yard debris from the road to avoid blockages and floods as Tropical Storm Debby makes impact.
RED BANK, NJ — Red Bank Borough is asking residents to move yard debris piles from the roadway to the planting strip between the curb and sidewalk in order to prevent debris from washing down gutter lines and into storm drains, Red Bank Borough Manager Jim Gant said Tuesday.
This request comes as Tropical Storm Debby makes impact in New Jersey; so far flooding the state with rain and numerous power outages. In Central Jersey, effects of Debby are expected to last throughout the week.
According to Gant, the storm could bring significant rainfall in short periods and pose a high risk of flash flooding in certain parts of Red Bank.

"Our Department of Public Utilities (DPU) crews have been diligently working over the past several days, focusing on yard waste cleanup and clearing storm drains of debris to mitigate flooding risks," Gant said. "However, we need your cooperation to ensure the effectiveness of these efforts."
The Borough reminds residents that placing non-containerized yard waste at the curb or along the street is only permitted during the 7 days preceding a scheduled and announced collection.
