Red Bank Prepares For Tropical Storm Isaias

The Red Bank region will most likely see the effects of the storm late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

RED BANK, NJ – As Tropical Storm Isaias continues on a path anticipated to bring strong winds and heavy rain to New Jersey on Tuesday, the Borough of Red Bank warns residents that tropical storm winds of 45 to 55 mph (with gusts to 75 mph) are projected to occur Tuesday afternoon and throughout the evening.

On on Aug. 3, the National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook – including a Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flood Watch – in effect until midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 5.In a statement posted to the municipal website, the borough notified locals that the Red Bank region will most likely see the effects of the storm as early as Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Heavy rains are expected to impact most of the state with the potential for flash flooding, the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office stated on Monday morning. The once-anticipated hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday afternoon, according to a Sunday update from the National Hurricane Center. According to the statement, potential impacts of the tropical storm may include damage to porches, sheds and swings, broken tree limbs and impassable roads due to debris, particularly within heavily wooded areas. Scattered power and communications outages and hazardous driving conditions may also be expected.

The borough reminds residents to remove non secure outdoor items from patios and decks.

Residents are urged to report any power outages by calling JCP&L at 1 (888) 544-4877. Red Bank residents can stay informed by signing up for the Borough of Red Bank Community Alert System. Updates will also be available on the municipal website at www.redbanknj.org.
