RED BANK, NJ — An exploratory committee is going to review Red Bank's existing and future stormwater challenges, in order to address them.

The resolution to create the committee was introduced during the borough’s regular July meeting by Councilman Ed Zipprich.

Zipprich sent out a statement defending that a local stormwater trust should be established to finance the improvement of the town's infrastructure and that green infrastructure should be prioritized in order to better control water pollution and flooding.

“This should help to restore and enhance the quality of the borough’s waters and protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents," Zipprich said. "Large developers who cover more land and create more stormwater runoff could be impacted."

The councilman also stated such a project would benefit Red Bank through neighborhood beautification, enhanced wildlife habitat, increased property values, economic revitalization, and job creation.
