Shrewsbury Business Owners Invited To Mayor's Roundtable

Shrewsbury Mayor Erik Anderson is hosting a meeting June 23, bringing together local, county and state officials and area businesses.

SHREWSBURY, NJ — Mayor Erik Anderson is inviting business owners in the borough to a roundtable next Friday morning to discuss how the business climate here can continue to thrive.

The meeting will take place on Friday, June 23, at 8:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Shrewsbury, 352 Sycamore Ave.

"The purpose of the meeting is to discuss how the Borough of Shrewsbury and our local business owners can partner to support your business so it can continue to grow and thrive. Your input and participation would be greatly appreciated and invaluable to our discussions," Anderson said in a letter to business owners.

Assemblywoman Kim Eulner, R-11th District, and Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone also will be at the meeting, Anderson said.

And Anderson said they can offer insight on how county and state governments can be a resource for business.

As distinctive as Shrewsbury is for its historic "Four Corners" of historic structures at the intersection of Broad Street and Sycamore Avenue, it also has a large business district, Anderson noted.

In its borders are small, specialty businesses, but also the Grove Mall and national chains such as Trader Joe's. Plus there is significant office space filled in the borough.

Anderson said the town has 4,200 residents but - at least pre-pandemic - as many as 10,000 people patronizing stores or working in businesses come into the borough every day.

If business owners have any questions prior to the meeting, they can contact the borough and can RSVP to register at ccherbini@shrewsburyboro.com.
