Shrewsbury: Water Main Repair Detours Rt. 35S; 100 Without Service

Repairs to a water main in Shrewsbury have affected service to 100 customers; Route 35 south is detoured, utility says.

SHREWSBURY, NJ — Route 35 south near Newman Springs Road (Route 520) was closed most of Tuesday and possibly into early Wednesday - and about 100 customers were without water service - because of water main repairs near the intersection, according to New Jersey American Water Co. and local police

The company repaired a water main break on Route 35 (Broad Street) in Shrewsbury on Monday, completing the repair late Monday night, the company said.

But at that time other equipment was identified as needing repair, the company said Tuesday.

The road was still closed Tuesday night, probably until Wednesday morning, to complete repairs, police said.

About 100 properties will be without water during the repair, and those customers have been notified, said Erin Banes, a spokesperson for the water company.
