Free lunches, a break on utility bills, and complimentary haircuts are being offered to local federal employees who are on furlough.

Several Bergen County businesses and organizations are offering help and assistance to local furloughed employees who are victims of the partial, ongoing government shutdown.

Here are some ways local businesses are helping furlough victims of the ongoing partial shutdown, which is now in its 34th day. A valid government identification is required to receive the offers and services.

Help With Bills

PSE&G is prepared to offer affected customers a 60-day grace period and help them set up payment schedules.

Download an assistance application, visit their website or call 1-800-510-3102. Applications are also available at any of PSE&G's payment and service centers, including those in Hackensack and Paterson.

Jobs

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is offering temporary jobs and free meals to all furloughed federal government employees and their families.

Tuition Help

All Lightbridge Academy facilities in New Jersey will offer deferred tuition for two months at its 13 company-owned centers, including its Fort Lee, Westwood, Mahwah, Fair Lawn, and Westwood locations.

Free Haircuts, Food

Craft + Theory Hair Studio in Ho-Ho-Kus is offering free haircuts to employees and one family member.

Several restaurants are offering free meals: Ice Cream by Mike in Ridgewood is offering free hot dogs, Saffron in Wyckoff and Downtown Dhaba in Westwood are offering free lunches, Stone & Rail in Glen Rock is giving away free entrees through a GoFundMe campaign started by Glen Rock After the March.

No Co-Pays And Deductibles

Holy Name Medical Center is waiving co-pays and deductibles and Hackensack University Medical Center enacted a similar policy last week.

Pet Supplies

Pet ResQ Inc. is collecting pet food and supplies for employees. Pet food and supplies may be dropped off at PetValu at 501 Route 17 North in Paramus.

Free 'Skydiving'

Sky Zone, an indoor skydiving simulation business, is offering employees and up to three immediate family members for one free 60-minute jump session on Tuesday. free Click here for more information.
