Man Sexually Assaulted Minor In 2 Bergen County Towns: Prosecutor
A Bronx man was accused of sexually assaulting a minor in 2 Bergen County towns and taken to Rikers Island, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 36-year-old Bronx man has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a minor in two Bergen County towns in the past, the prosecutor's office said.
Renaldo W. Baxter was charged last Wednesday with attempted aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
On Friday, May 31, 2024, the Garfield Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile under the age of 16 that occurred in the past, prosecutors said.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Garfield Police Department and Teaneck Police Department determined that Baxter sexually assaulted the child in Garfield and Teaneck between April and October 2019.
Baxter was taken into custody Wednesday by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Child
Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force, prosecutors said.

He was placed in the Rikers Island Facility to await extradition to Bergen County, they said.
