One and Done for Ridgewood Wrestlers

Ridgewood's two state tournament wrestlers don't make it past prelims.

Brandon Giovanetti and Joe Oliva, Ridgewood’s two representatives at the NJSIAA state championship wrestling tournament, had a quick exit on Friday.

Giovanetti (130) lost to Bryant Lightly of Passaic Tech in the first day’s preliminary match 9-5. Oliva (112) didn't do much better, losing to Joey Mazza of Roxbury 9-6.

Because the two wrestlers were eliminated in the preliminary round, neither will get a chance to wrestle back into the concilation bracket on Saturday.
