Car Stolen In Glen Rock, $3K In Items Taken From Another
Several cars were burglarized and one car was stolen in Glen Rock last week, police said. The latter was found two days later.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A car was stolen and several were burglarized in Glen Rock last week, police said.
On Thursday, Aug. 26, at 6:42 a.m., a North Haledon resident reported that someone stole their 2022 Honda Civic overnight while it was parked in a driveway on Highwood Avenue. It had been left unlocked with the key fob inside. Inside the vehicle were an Apple watch, $45 in cash, a debit card, and a credit card.
Meanwhile, shortly after police got that report, another resident on the same block said they had heard yelling outside their home and discovered that someone had left a Ford car key in their driveway.

Police found a stolen 2008 Ford Fusion parked on Norwood Avenue near Henry Street, which matched the key that was recovered on Highwood Avenue. The car had been stolen from Hawthorne, they said.
The stolen Civic was not recovered that day, though.

The Civic was recovered by Paterson police two days later, at 1:49 a.m. on 10th Avenue.
Glen Rock and Hawthorne Detectives are investigating both stolen vehicle incidents as related crimes, police said.
Cars Entered
Meanwhile, police received reports of someone entering cars on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Around 12:28 P.M., patrols headed to the 200 block of Doremus Avenue and Leone Court regarding unlocked vehicles having been entered overnight.

The person "appeared to be a light skinned male with short hair and a slight beard, dressed in orange hoodie and black shorts," police said.
The person did get into two vehicles. From one the person stole approximately $ 3,000 worth of property including a laptop computer, corsair
headphones, a hard drive, gift card, golf shoes, and a Swiss army knife, police said
Police said, "He attempted to enter several other vehicles; however, they were locked and not entered. The actor fled the area in what is believed to be an older black Nissan Sentra."
Police later heard that someone who lives in an apartment in the Rock Road Central Business District, reported that their unlocked vehicle was also entered overnight. Taken was a wallet containing $20 cash, credit cards, and their driver’s license
From Aug. 26, 2024 to Sept. 1, the Glen Rock police handled 346 calls for service, police said.
Police said, "The public is once again reminded to always lock your homes, your vehicles, your bicycles. Never leave key fobs or valuables in your vehicles and promptly report any suspicious activity. If you see someone prowling around your home, do not confront them and call 911 immediately. Numerous arrests have been made for these types of crimes, yet they continue to occur. Personal vigilance is your best defense."
