Ridgewood PBA Dinner Raises $12K to Help Village Girl Battling Cancer
Dinner held for B.F. Middle Schooler Haley Tyrrell

Ridgewood PBA Local #20 has raised $12,000 to help a .
In October the police association held a dinner to raise money for Haley Tyrrell, a village middle school student who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer that eventually led to an amputation of her right leg.
“Our membership supports and helps sponsor many events and organizations throughout the year. When we heard Haley’s amazing and inspiring story, we decided to be proactive and have a dinner for her,” said Det. Peter Youngberg, President of Ridgewood P.B.A. Local #20.

The dinner, held at The Estate at Florentine Gardens in River Vale, drew an approximate 200 people, according to Youngberg. Dad's Night Band HAWK performed as well, leading to what organizers are calling a big success.
“We had a tremendous showing of support from the community and I am happy to say that we were able to raise $12,000 for Haley and her family," Youngberg said.
Because insurance doesn't cover prosthetic limbs, which will need to be replaced as Tyrell ages, the financial needs are pressing and the money, officers hope, will go a long way.

"I want to thank all of the local businesses, families, and teachers who all helped make this a great and successful evening," Youngberg said. "It was our pleasure meeting and getting to know the family. She is an amazing little girl.”
The money raised was directly deposited to the Haley Tyrrell Fund.
