Ridgewood Schools To Hold Kickoff Event Monday For 'Vision 2030' Plan

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Ridgewood School District has a new website (here) and they're planning a public event on Monday, Sept. 9 to kick off their longterm strategic plan "Vision 2030."

The public forum on the future of Ridgewood's schools is open to parents, guardians, staff, students, business owners, residents, officials, and more, the district said.

They've planned a dozen focus groups (schedule here) and an event Monday to kick them off.

"Have you marked your calendar to attend our Community Forum on Vision 2030 - our Strategic Plan kickoff?" they asked. "Please join us, Monday, September 9, 2024 at 7pm in the Ed Center, 49 Cottage Place."

School Has Begun

This week, the Ridgewood police reminded residents to be careful driving when school's in session.

The first day of school in both Ridgewood and Glen Rock was Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The school calendars, as of this writing, are here for Ridgewood and here for Glen Rock.

Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on your own calendar:

Sept. 3, Tuesday: First day of school for students (A minimum day in Ridgewood).

Oct. 3: Rosh Hashana, school closed.

Oct. 4: Rosh Hashana, schools closed for second day in Glen Rock.

Oct. 14: Columbus Day/professional development, school closed in Ridgewood and early dismissal in Glen Rock.

Nov. 1: Diwali, schools closed.

Nov. 4-6: In Glen Rock only, Election Day and fall break, schools closed.

Nov. 7-8: Schools closed for teachers' convention.

Nov. 27: Minimum day/early dismissal.

Nov. 28-29: Thanksgiving, schools closed.

Dec. 4-5: Early dismissal in Glen Rock elementary schools for teacher conferences.

Dec. 23-Jan. 1: Schools closed.

Jan. 2, 2025: Schools reopen.
